How to Play DOPA DASH
DOPA DASH is a rhythm dash game about turning a grey, bored city back into color. This guide covers everything, from your first tap to three stars on the hardest levels of the Party Tour. Every run is short, so the best way to learn is to read a section and try it right away.
THE BASICS
Tap anywhere and you dash there. On a phone you tap the screen; on a computer you click, or press the space bar to dash toward the pointer. Your creature flies in a straight line to the spot you picked.
Boop the greys. Anyone you pass through on the way gets booped: they splash into bright paint, cheer, and join the party line that follows you around. The more friends you boop in one dash, the more points it is worth, and the paint they leave stays on the floor, so the arena slowly turns from grey to neon.
Every tap should mean something. A dash that boops someone costs nothing. A dash that hits nobody costs one unit of energy (the lightning bolt at the bottom of the screen), unless you tapped on the beat. Wild tapping drains you; well-aimed dashes on the music keep you going forever.
PLAYING ON THE BEAT
Every level has its own song, and the whole city moves to it: your creature bounces, the grey friends hop, spikes and bosses strike on the bar. The beat bar at the bottom of the screen shows what is coming. Ticks slide in from both sides toward the record in the middle, and the moment they meet the record is the beat. That is also the moment your creature lands from its bounce.
| Timing | What you get |
|---|---|
| PERFECT | Tap right on the beat. The dash is free, it counts toward PERFECT and streak goals, and it fills the groove meter fastest. |
| GOOD | Close to the beat. Still free, and still keeps your streak. |
| OFF | Too early or too late. The label says which (EARLY or LATE) so you know how to adjust. An off-beat dash that misses everyone costs energy. |
Beat timing on your device. Bluetooth earbuds and some phones play sound a little late. Open Settings and run Beat School: you tap along with a bouncing ball for a few beats and the game measures your device's delay and fixes it. If PERFECT feels impossible, this is almost always the reason.
Tip: look at your creature, not the bar. It lands on every beat. Tap as it touches down.
VIBES AND BUMPS
You have three vibes, shown as hearts at the bottom. Bumping into something that isn't happy to see you (a spiky chestnut, a charging horn friend, a boss slam) costs one vibe and knocks a few friends off your party line. They scatter nearby, so dash back through them quickly to get them back before they wander off.
A bump never ends the run by itself. Only losing all three vibes does, and even then you are just bored, not beaten. One more thing to watch: if you go a while without booping anyone, your party starts wandering off from the back of the line, one friend at a time. Keep booping and they stay.
PARTY SIZE AND PARTY TIME
Your party line is your score multiplier. As it grows you climb the party levels: HANGOUT, PARTY, HOUSE PARTY, DANCE PARTY, BLOCK PARTY, RAVE, FESTIVAL and finally WORLD PARTY, each one multiplying every boop.
Dashing on the beat fills the groove meter. When it is full the song builds up, counts down three beats, and hits the DROP. Tap on the drop beat to start PARTY TIME: for a few seconds you can't be bumped, points are doubled, a vibe comes back, and paint floods the floor. Several Party Tour levels ask you to hit a number of drops, so learning to land that exact beat pays off.
WHO YOU MEET
Each district of the Party Tour adds one new kind of guest, so the game gets richer step by step:
- Grey friends come in small, regular and chubby sizes. Chubby ones pop into three little ones.
- Chestnuts (from Phonk Garage) are covered in spikes on some beats. Boop them when the spikes are down, and never dash into them when they're up.
- Horn friends (from Funk Rooftop) charge in a straight line on the bar. Step aside, then boop them from behind.
- Party poppers (from Amapiano Alley) burst into confetti and bring crowds with them.
- Shinies (from Jersey Club) are golden friends worth a lot. They try to slip away, so catch them fast.
- Bosses close every district: King Snooze and the Chestnut King. Nobody fights: you wake the boss up by dashing into it between its slams, and it joins your party.
POWER-UPS
From Jersey Club on, power-ups drop onto the floor. Dash through one to use it right away.
| Power-up | Effect |
|---|---|
| Bubble Shield | Blocks one bump. |
| Rainbow Roller | Doubles your reach for 8 seconds. |
| Star Wand | Every boop zaps two more friends nearby. |
| Ice Pop | Everyone freezes for 3 seconds. |
| Party Popper | For 6 seconds every boop bursts and catches the friends around it. |
THE PARTY TOUR
The tour is 60 levels across six districts, each a music scene with its own painted venue: Disco Plaza, Phonk Garage, Funk Rooftop, Amapiano Alley, Jersey Club and Hyperpop Galaxy. A level is one song, one goal and a clock of roughly 45 to 90 seconds. Goals include making a number of friends, growing a party of a certain size, landing PERFECTs, staying on the beat many times in a row, booping several friends in a single dash, hitting drops, catching shinies, lasting until the clock runs out, and befriending the boss.
Each district rises and falls: a couple of easy levels, a medium one, a HARD level, a breather, and a boss at the end. Clearing a level splashes paint on the city map, and clearing a district brings its streets back to full color. The first level of every district tells you about its new guest before you start.
If the clock runs out when you are very close, you may be offered a short encore: watch an ad and get ten more seconds. It's always your choice.
THREE STARS
Every level has three stars. The first is for clearing it. The second and third need a score, shown on the level card before you play. When you meet the goal early, the seconds you have left turn into bonus points in the finale, and every grey still standing joins the party. So the fastest clear is often the one with the most stars.
New stars fill your star jar. A full jar gives you an egg, and so does the first clear of every boss.
ENCORE: AFTER LEVEL 60
Finishing the tour isn't the end. From level 61 the tour goes round again as Encore: the same venues and songs with a busier, faster crowd, a tighter clock on counting goals and higher star scores. Each lap turns it up a little more, so there is always a next level to play.
FREE PARTY, DAILY AND CHALLENGES
- Free Party opens after the first district. There are no goals and no clock: grow the biggest party you can and chase your best score. It has world and weekly rankings.
- Daily opens after level 5. Everyone plays the same setup with one special rule for the day, such as Shiny Day, Popper Party, Chestnut Day, Chubby Day, Power Paradise, Boss Rush or Overdrive (everything 1.3 times faster for 1.5 times the score). It has its own ranking for the day.
- Challenges. After a run, send a challenge link. Your friend plays the exact same run and tries to beat your score, and you get told when they answer, with a rematch button if they won.
Rankings live in Records. They show your creature's name, never your real name.
YOUR CREW
Every egg hatches a creature built from how you played: its body, colors, eyes, mouth, head and wings come from your run, so nobody else has the same one. Its shape even sets its powers. Choose which creature to play as in Crew, dress it up in the closet, and collect parts in the Crewdex. You can also draw your own creature from scratch, or fuse two into a new egg. Any creature can become stickers, a profile picture, a phone wallpaper or a trading card.
TEN TIPS
- Run Beat School once on every new phone or pair of earbuds.
- Aim through lines of friends, not single ones. One dash that boops five is worth far more than five dashes.
- On a miss, you still pay energy. If the bolt is empty, wait for the beat before you tap.
- Watch the spikes and horns move on the bar. They are predictable once you hear it.
- After a bump, swing back through your scattered friends straight away.
- Save your big dashes for PARTY TIME, when you can't be bumped and points are doubled.
- On drop goals, stay on the beat to fill the groove, then tap exactly on the drop.
- On survive levels, stay near the middle and keep moving. The crowd closes in from the edges.
- For the third star, clear the goal early: leftover seconds become points.
- Stuck on a level? Play Free Party for a few minutes. Your timing improves and your crew grows.
